With every chart topping pop hit, there’s  a multitude of remixes that get released. Most eventually turn into official remixes endorsed by the singers themselves.  Artists like Rihanna, Madonna and Zara Larsson have tapped EDM headliners R3hab, Major Lazer and more for remixes to their original songs.

Even closer to home,Alicia Keys featured US-based Kenyan deejay Xpect and South Africa’s Black coffee for a remix of her 2016 hit single In Common.This mainstream crossover opportunity enables both artists to tap into each others wider fanbases.

This year with over 130 million views on Youtube, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of you, off his album Divide has been a definite radio magnet. There’ve been numerous remixes of the song on major entertainment sites such as Billboard and Beatport.  However, there’s one that may have flown under your radar. A trap and heavy bass infused take on the original version by an upcoming Nairobi-based music collective Public Holiday.

They have transformed and beefed up the palm tree swaying, sand between your toes anthem into an uptempo head banging, trap infused track with the original acoustic vocals now riding on a heavier massive bass line
