Diplo to DJ in Nairobi
Wesley Pentz is an internationally touring DJ, founder of the Mad Decent record label and the 2013 Grammy Producer of the Year. He’s well known as DIPLO, and better known for his behind-the-scenes work in music production. Diplo has contributed his skills to songs such as: M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes,” Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls),” and Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor.”
After introducing the Brazilian baile funk, Angolan Kuduro, among other obscured music across the world, DIPLO has became a curator of the world’s most innovative DJs and producers. Most recently, he released the famous Harlem Shake dance music.
The Tree House will host local talent but the night will revolve around the Harlem Shake — a song released through Mad Decent after DIPLO signed the original producer, Baauer, to the label.
The photography service and event organizer, Kenya Nights, is organizing Diplo’s upcoming gig in Nairobi. The Tree House will host this hyped event which has limited tickets retailing at KES 2000 (Advance), or KES 2500 (Gate) on February 7th.
Ticket outlets and more information will be out later this week. Keep updated by following the Tree House and Kenya Nights Facebook page. You can also listen to some of DIPLO’s most well known works here.
