Top Ten Tuesdays: Events

So we’ve started a new column here at UP. You know how we have Viral Wednesdays and Throwback Thursdays? Well, this one’s called Top Ten Tuesdays. Every Tuesday we’ll give you a list of 10 interesting things that happened the previous week. Check out the top ten events that went on last week.

  • Kikoy Culture- Of course this had to be on our list seeing as it was this Saturday. 6am threw a hell of a party with the main DJ Jeremy Olander keeping everyone on their feet.

 

  • Off the Record- If you wanted to get your thoughtful juices flowing you should have showed have showed up for this. The event at Pawa 254 crerated a platform for open debates.

 

  • Fatuma’s Voice- Poetry in Kenya is getting more and more popular. This event only solidified the fact that Kenyan poets are amazing!

 

  • Worlds Loudest Library- Topic of discussion: Why we don’t talk about African Narrative. This event got seriously heated and the alcohol was flowing on another level!

 

  • BBQ Live- Barbeque displays that left mouths watering filled Arboretum Grounds. There were ribs eating competitions and steak grilling cook offs! It was all in all a good time.

 

  • The Vava Coffee Roastery- Have any of you ever gone for an international coffee tasting festival? If the answer is still no then we’re sorry. Coffee is awesome and this event only proved this.

 

  • Thursday Night Live- Lydiah Dola was wonderful at this event. Be sure to catch next weeks Thursday night live featuring H_Art The Band.

 

  • Verbalize ~ Realize: State of Nation: SUSO did an amazing job at helping the youth open their eyes to topics not usually discussed.

 

  • Bespoke Fashion Event- People dressed in the most eclectic clothing, standard for a fashion show and the live music from Benson M was amazing.

 

  • Kizomba Dance Workshop: This was a really chill event that happened last week. Kizomba is about connecting people and that’s exactly what it did.
