UP Music: (New Video Alert) ‘Dirunk’

‘Dirunk’ is a track that brings together Kenya’s lyrical gods, Gabu and Kristoff - peppered by the witty comedian, Jalang’o. Having featured the innovative Ulopa Bwana Ngoma on our September issue, we were even more excited once we got word he was behind the production of this track. The teaser ‘twerk’ videos released on Instagram created even more buzz before the official release of the video.

 

That said, the Enos Olik visuals are impressive, especially as he tries to capture the dance moves. The Cubano Lounge (there are rumors that they sponsored the video too) was perfectly in line with the chronicles of any dirunk person, and they can relate with the drunkard role played by Jalang’o, who is busy trying to get a girl to grind on.

We get the idea of it being a club banger because of the ratchetness that comes with being drunk, but to us here at UP Nairobi, the video was fairly disappointing.

The energy is on point, the visuals are great, but the video seems to lack some oomph to it. We have no particular beef with anyone featured on this track but we were greatly unimpressed by the whole thing.
