Blend of Fela Kuti and Pharrell

Happy is happening. With new remixes and video remakes popping up every day it’s almost hard to avoid a Pharrell fatigue.
However, Seattle’s dj100proof have nailed it with a mash-up of Happy and Nigerian legend FelaKuti‘s Colonial Mentality from 1977. As dj100proof writes on his website, “I thought the shuffle tempo, driving bass lines and horns of FelaKuti could provide a nice backdrop, so I chopped up his classic.” We tend to agree. Some industrious people out in Karen have also taken it upon themselves to produce a Kenyan version of the Happy video. It’s quite watchable and they definitely put a lot of effort into it.
