The wait is over: FA254 has chosen the finalists for the African designers of Tomorrow.

FA254 is a company that launched in 2013 whose sole aim is to promote African talent and to rebrand the continent’s image. They began a campaign this July called the ‘African designers of Tomorrow’ (otherwise known as ADFT),where the winner of the 2014 ADFT award will showcase their designs at the 2015 Berlin Fashion week. This couldn’t have come at a better time because if trends are anything to go by, afro-inspired designs and prints have become increasingly popular around the world season by season.

The finalists were selected from different areas of design from apparel, home decoration and accessories.

The designers chosen are as follows; Ami Shah, Anne Mpinga, Anthony Muli, Azra Walji, Dooreen Neamel Mashika, Hardeep Chana, Ivy Chege, Katungulu Mwendwa, Lorna Abwonji and Louise Sommerlatte.

 

So, what exactly are the perks of being a finalist, you ask? A five day international fashion seminar , a two month mentoring production program, an exhibition at the Swiss embassy in Nairobi, 1 year consultation program from FA254 and a book compilation of the designers work and collections.
