Guru Gang on being a G and the Nazizi gun incident.
Guru Gang previously known as Richie Rich talks to us about the recent story that has been swirling around the internet regarding Nazizi’s involvement in a gun toting incident in Westlands on Friday night. “It didn’t happen the way it was reported. We went out on Friday with some friends to celebrate my birthday around Bacchus and Havana. We had no idea of any incident until we heard the story being circulated.” On whether rappers live their lyrics, Gang confirmed that he does. “My lyrics are not fiction. It’s a story of something that I have gone through or something that someone I know has. I rap about inspirational things, it’s reality music.
“I’ve grown, I’m a guru,” explains Guru Gang on his rebranding move. “I don’t deal in violence. Like last week, we were just partying, kicking it. As the Chairman of Pamoja Amani Upendo, I don’t associate with gun violence. The message is peace.”
The gun story mushroomed from an article by Star magazine by Grace Kerongo. We reached out to her for comment, to no avail.
