Team Gidrews Clinch the 2014 Heineken Foosball Tournament Title

Running parallel with the hotly contested UEFA Champions League finals in Lisbon, Heineken held the finals of the 2014 Heineken® Foosball Tournament on April 30th at everyone’s favourite Nairobi water hole: K1. The prize was a trip to the Baleric island of Ibiza, to watch a live screening of the 2014 UEFA Champions League final.

Team Gidrews representing Sheba Lounge in Mombasa, were announced the 2014 winners of the second edition of this hotly contested tournament. Following a remarkable performance by Gideon Admasu and Meki Abass, team Gidrews beat team Wandulis (../../Tribeka-%20Nairobi.jpg) by a one point lead with a 19 point finish to clinch the title.

HEINEKEN East Africa General Manager Mr. Koen Morshuis expressed his pleasure with the tournament, which generated a lot of interest from consumers and football enthusiasts in its second edition. “The competition was fierce and the energy was amazing. I congratulate Team Gidrews for their well-earned victory. We applaud all participating teams for their effort and will continue to surprise our Kenyan consumers with world-class experiences,” said Mr. Morshuis.

Prize winners and VIPs from across the world will join together to celebrate a night of legendary football at this world-class Heineken® experience.The Foosball tournament in Kenya saw a total of 256 teams participate from Coast, Mt. Kenya Region, Rift Valley/Western and Nairobi, with 32 of these making it to the preliminary rounds.
