The Classics Are In

There are tonnes of new cars in this market, and even more models coming out. A car is more than a vehicle on four wheels; it’s a connection between man and machine, almost close to an emotional bond. New cars are great; the modern technology is constantly pushing the limits of what’s possible, and who can’t understand why you would want to commute in a manual. I mean; it’s safe, comfortable and dependable.

Booming in popularity of the sexy new cars to be had is the Porsche line of SUVs. They’re gorgeous and scream that someone has made it to the upper crust. It’s beautiful machines like this that play into the mindset that new cars are as superior to old ones and admonishing people to get with the times, but it’s wrong to write off some of the oldies. There’s a reason people love the past roadsters, a great car is like fine wine, (if properly maintained) they’re just better with age.

There’s nothing like a ‘classic’. The sleek individuality, distinctiveness and simplicity of an old car can never go out of style. A classic will always go up in value. In Kenya, the Mini-Cooper is adored and has many fans across the counties. Most people view it as a vintage car that they can use in events or just have fun driving around. Most mini owners in Kenya do not own the latest models and thus the small machines they own still possess the classic touch. Due to the amount of Mini-Coopers, the club ‘Mini-Cooper Lovers’ was formed. In the crowded Nairobi traffic, a classic like this can outshine a freshly bought and gigantic SUV any day of the week.

 

The Mercedes-Benz 250 SL also known as the ‘Pagoda Coupe’. This car is also a vintage convertible. This car is definitely what I’d call beauty. This classy convertible Merc is something you don’t see every day in Nairobi. James Bond couldn’t have drawn this one up better.

The Volkswagen car is one of the oldest vintage cars in Kenya. But now the convertible Volkswagen Beetle is completely eye catching and a touch of class. Through the decades, the design of the Volkswagen Beetle convertible has evolved from the austere looks of the original to the way too cute previous generation known as the New Beetle. Its funky style isn’t up for change with Beetle loyalists.

The classy Alfa Romeo. The first anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club (Kenya) was a matter of great pride for the members. Sometimes a car is a way of life, and an Alfa Romeo driver wouldn’t trade in their baby for a dozen top end gas-guzzlers.

Classy cars like these will always make you look twice. The Kenyan sun is perfect weather for you to cruise behind the wheel of that classic car. An old-school roadster will put any yuppie luxury car to the test.
