60 Seconds with International Germany Dj Duo, Schlachthofbronx

Last week Tuesday German DJs Schlachthofbronx played a live set at Club Tree House on Museum Hill, Nairobi as part of their tour through Sub-Saharan Africa. Nairobi was the final destination and they delivered. We caught up with the duo for an exclusive sixty seconds with UP.

Schlachthofbronx, made up of Jakob (R) and Benedikt (L), with UP Magazine writer, Vincent Libosso(centre)

How is Nairobi treating you so far?

Benedikt: Very well, apart from the rain.

Jakob: Nice, but hope we got to see more.

What do you miss a lot while on tour and travelling all over the world?

B: My home bed.

J: Free Wi-Fi

Deejaying versus music production?

B: Music production. You can produce music even when you are old and wrinkled. It is hard picturing a 60 year old, at 3 am in a club deejaying. Nothing beats playing your own produced stuff. So, maybe a mix of both music production and deejaying.

J: It is a good combination because for me both have their time in my life.

Favorite fashion item?

B: Suits and shoes- brogue boots.

J: shoes. My Adidas ZX.

Soundtrack to your life?

B: I can’t pin down to one song, but I would say dancehall and cumbia, depending on the mood and situation too.

J: Cumbia music.

Most memorable performance?

B: Each place we have been has a different memory and that is the beauty because if I can say one place was memorable, then that means am better done with the business. It is hard to pin down one place. Each place we go brings with it great memories for us.

J: On this sub Saharan tour, Kampala was the bomb! But I am waiting to see how tonight goes when we play in Nairobi for the first time. Kampala was a warehouse, family party with local djs and artists.
