Blogger of the Week: Maureen Bandari, The Funshion Mistress
Meet the self-appointed ambassador of Team Dark Skin Maureen Bandari.
True to her roots, this black beauty oozes fashion from the onset. “My style is simple one time and edgy the next,” she said in a past feature with Fashion Bomb Daily website.
Her website posts and photos are quite eye-catchy. Her love for art and colour portrays Maureen Bandari as a trend setter. With her accolades rising, she has been featured on a couple of on line publications such as Jeune Afrique, Ghafla, Niaje and Black Girls Killing it.
But what would make a Kenyatta University’s Bachelor of Science in Technology degree holder be so inclined to fashion? “I love science and I also feel the same way or more about fashion,” she explains, “I love to play around with colour, fabric, trends and prints” it’s because of this reason she coined the word ‘funshion’ (fun+fashion).”
Surviving 3 years in the fashion blogging jungle is something Maureen speaks proudly about. Touching on skincare, cosmetics, beauty, clothes and fashion, her blog works your eyes with delight of what she does with simple accessories.
“I’m a passionate fashion blogger that loves the art and draws inspiration from it. It’s been 3 fulfilling years blogging which has given me power to chase my dreams,” Maureen told UP.
From African kitenge prints, to a casual weekend look or even a job interview killer look, Ms. Bandari keeps readers to her site hooked.
” I love colour and prints as they complement my skin tone really well.” About her dark skin, this beauty is not apologetic, “I am a self-appointed team dark skin ambassador who looks out to do more and walk the talk about the issue in order to promote our natural states. I’m an African queen in my own right”
