Life According to Juiced Today: 50 Things You Have to Do in Nairobi Before You Die
We all think we have done it all. But as we discovered recently, there are so many weird, cool and wonderful things in Nairobi that you have to try at least once in your lifetime.
Do yourself a huge favor and grab a pen, read our checklist and tick off all the things you have tried. Points to those who have managed to do all 50.
- Take a picture on the KICC helipad
- Eat in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
- Go to a football match (read Mashemeji Derby) and cheer like a nutter.
- Rave in Westie till 7 am.
- Drink in a rooftop bar.
- Go to a rugby game and drink like a rugby player.
- Attend UP Magazine’s UP Live party.
- Order something on Jumia.
- Buy something from OLX.
- Overlap in the jam/ traffic.
- Get hooted at while driving round a roundabout.
- Order a hipster pizza.
- Shop on Kimathi Street, or Kenyatta Avenue.
- Catch a 3D movie at IMAX.
- Catch a play at The National Theatre.
- Go on a date in Central Park or Uhuru Park.
- Take some pictures before KICC.
- Take a tuk-tuk ride downtown Nairobi.
- Go to a music festival.
- Listen to a live band.
- Wander round Muthurwa Market.
- Take a jog through Nairobi Arboretum or Karura Forest
- Run round the maze at City Park.
- Chase a matatus down the street in the rain during rush hour.
- Instagram a picture of your first train ride in Nairobi.
- Ice skate at Panari.
- Go on a blind date.
- Check out an exhibition at Nairobi National Museum.
- Make out in the middle of a club’s dance floor.
- Grind on a stranger in the club.
- Try the nyama choma and kachumbari with, ugali.
- View Nairobi at night from Tree House.
- Get chauffeur driven (preferably in a Rolls Royce or a horse carriage).
- Listen to a sermon outside Hilton Hotel.
- If you bold enough, see what happens in the strip club joints.
- Hang like a matatus conductor on the matatus door rails.
- Pick up a free newspaper (and then inevitably leave it on the bus/ matatus seat).
- Be naughty and order something from those adult websites.
- Drink up and go for a karaoke night.
- Attend a reggae concert or a rock concert.
- Attend Churchill Comedy Show.
- Join teens on Sunday afternoon for the jam session parties.
- Visit Westgate Mall (again after the terror attack).
- Go on a date at Caramel Lounge, ABC Place.
- Call into a radio talk show- preferably those morning shows that discuss sex.
- Sleep-in at the Villa Rosa Kempinski.
- Buy a second-hand piece of cloth at Gikomba.
- Try fish stew at Mama Oliech’s in Hurlingham.
- Buy a Kenyan musician album.
