Life According to Juiced Today: Morgan Heritage to Tour Nairobi
If there is a reliable, influential touch of crossover reggae outfit anywhere in the world, Morgan Heritage makes the cut without a doubt.

“With ‘Strictly Roots’ and our graduation from the school of VP Records to form our own CTBC Music Group, we realized the reggae audience and music lovers had gotten ten years younger,” Mr. Mojo of the Morgan Heritage clan told Gussy Young of Bang Radio and UK’s Silverstar Sounds.
The band’s Cool To Be Conscious Music Group Label has been spreading the message that it is cool to be positive - focussing in particular on youth culture.
“With the Galactic-generation as I like to call them,” Mojo goes on to add, “The new cool is being conscious!”
Between their albums, “Mission In Progress”, “The Return” and “Here Comes The Kings”, the band took a break to connect with family and fully returned recharged.
According to Gramps, “Strictly Roots, our 10th studio album is particularly significant. It represents our first album released independent of VP Records, on our very own label CTBC Music Group. VP has been great for the group and we’re grateful for our years with them. We just felt it was time to approach the release of our music differently.”
On another phase of their indomitable mission and journey, the Royal Family of Reggae has taken quite impressive steps with their new 2015 album, “Strictly Roots.”
Their website has already confirmed that the band will be in Nairobi on October 3rd alongside Jemere Morgan - son to Gramps Morgan and a fast rising reggae artist in his own right.
Possessing that unmistakably authentic Morgan Heritage organic roots sounds, looking at their performances on YouTube across the globe, the band pays homage to the founders, while ironically, they blaze the trail towards the exciting future of roots. Quite impressive enough, is seeing the band’s app that keeps their fans in the loop and also seeing Gramps deejay!
Working with heavyweight producers like Don Chandler and BBC 1Xtra’s Seani B, who co-produced the compelling lead single, “Perform and Done”- one cannot miss to see the dance hall Cinderella story and the dancehall-reggae roots sit side by side.
“‘Perform and Done’ is part of our roots. We showcase the fact that dance is part of dancehall music,” shrewd lead singer, Peetah Morgan noted in a performance in New York.
“We wanted to do a single to show that we embrace our ladies and that we need to do that often. It is that song that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything; Mr. Mojo told Silverstar Sound’s Gussy.”
Adding their vocals to infectious rhythms with empowering and stimulating lyrics are platinum selling Pop/Dancehall phenomenon Shaggy; American reggae and R&B vocalist, J Boog; third generation ambassadors from the Morgan and the Marley families, Jemere Morgan and Jo Mersa Marley; reggae sensation, Chronixx; rock, world and reggae band, Rebelution and Bumble Bee from the American Grammy-nominated pop reggae band SOJA.
Like its predecessor, Here Come The Kings, Strictly Roots successfully incorporates R&B and a hint of dancehall, but it goes a step further with this synergy and almost effortlessly fuses a type of roots, pop and dancehall majesty that could only be truly achieved by the Royal Family of Reggae.
