Sauti Sol Play Las Vegas Sevens

The Las Vegas Rugby Sevens Tournament is about to get a massive dose of Kenyan music. Sauti Sol is going to make the trans-Atlantic trip in order to play at a special Valentine’s Themed concert taking place during the competition. Did we mention that it’s all going down at the world-famous Hard Rock Café Las Vegas? That’s right, not only will Kenya get major representation it’s all happening at one the best venues in Vegas for live music.

The band is playing the show in conjunction with Nairobi’s own Homeboyz Radio 103.5 in an all out push to bring Kenyan music to the American scene. Sauti Sol play Vegas at the crest of a wave of newfound popularity for the group. They recently picked up honors for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2014. The bands two current music videos are blowing up in a massive way, with Nishike being the most watched YouTube video in Kenya in 2014 and Sura Yako rapidly becoming a global viral hit with its Lipala spun dance riffs.

On top of the always great live-performers Sauti Sol, the Kenyan musical delegation will include the spinning prowess of Kenyan dance stand outs TakeOverDJs and Supremacy Sounds. The event promises to be a huge showing for Kenya, as the team ranks among favorites to take home top honors from Las Vegas 7’s. The competition sprang up in 2004 and has increased in popularity exponentially, with matches even being broadcast on America’s NBC. With Sauti Sol and Homeboyz radio in tow, let’s just hope that Sin City can handle the party being brought to the Las Vegas Strip.
