STORE REVIEW: BRAND AVENUE

Not too long ago I had the chance to visit Brand Avenue, a relatively new store in Nairobi and I must say, I was pretty impressed! Though the idea dates back to 2012 when Brenda Wambui, the bubbly soul behind all the magic, would sell pieces from her home, the physical store came to life in November 2014. Located at Bishop Maragua Centre, right opposite Uchumi Hyper on Ngong road, Brand Avenue covers clothes of all sizes for both men and women.

The men’s section boasts a variety of casual and semi-casual shirts, polo tees and wallets, all carrying renowned brands ranging from
Esprit, Abercrombie and Fitch, Mufti, Ralph Lauren, you name it!

Now, the ladies’ section obviously had me all excited, I couldn’t help but snug a little something for myself! This corner is packed with colour, fun prints and unique, gorgeous pieces. We’re talking H&M dresses, Tommy Hilfiger shirts, fun playsuits by Pepe Jeans, chino pants by Tom Tailor, come on! Need I go on? True to its name, Brand Avenue is definitely where your favourite brands come to play.

By now you must all be curious about the pricing of the pieces, right? Many local stores stocking these brands have many of us turning the other way in fear of the damage that could possibly be caused to our bank accounts. Sounds familiar, huh? Well, here’s the shocker. With just Kshs. 250, you could have a gorgeous pair of earrings and with just Kshs. 3,000 in hand, you could be the chicest thing in a stunning Desigual dress, or that handsome stud in a sick Robert Graham shirt. Did I mention that the store stocks just one piece per size? So, goodbye to that awkward moment when you’re feeling all fresh till you bump into a couple of others rocking your exact same look!
