UP Live IV: tips on how to Survive Nairobi’s Greatest Music Festival
The May thunderstorms may have melted away but it seems the cold June wants to carry on to till July. Early weather forecasts, Saturday 11th July looks cloudy and damp.
If you missed what Financial Times had say about UP Live train boogie, then go read it now! So, do mosey around Nairobi’s Railway Museum yard for live Djs, music and boogie, all day!
Today, we give you some tips for the event that we have received from those who have attended the event before.
Get there early.
This is one event that gets the whole of Nairobi outdoors. Be there early.
Try the food.
Make sure to try the meals at the venue. You will not be disappointed.
Embrace the variety.
Local is great. International is UP there, so yes, embrace the variety on offer.
It is not all about music.
Fashion, urban crowd, light and art installations are just as good as the live music.
Engage more.
This is the perfect time to meet more new people. Buy someone a beer or even get that’s stranger’s phone number.
And if it rains…
Heck, dance in the rain.
Nothing beats that, dancing freely in the rain.
Take the train gauges.
The old steam engine trains are for shelter so hit into one of the gauges.
Avoid denim
Prepare for rain- that is an old Nairobi saying, that loosely translates to, never mind the rain. Aim for short skirts and tights.
UP Live IV is that one place for chancing it, getting seduced by art and music, for wondering around, stumbling upon new people and making new local and foreign best friends- at least until the Nairobi sun comes up
