UP Music: Interview with DJ Imraan Feischer

This week, this cross-over deejay with Kenyan and Asian roots empties the contents of his psychic record bag.

 

• Where did Imraan Feischer’s journey begin?

My musical adventure began when I was a young teen. My love and passion for this calling only grew greater and I decided to take up the challenge. I’ve gone from doing small local gigs around the country to playing at some of Nairobi’s greatest shows and festivals such as The Battle of the Bands, Dance Paradise, Jump Off 2014, Extravadance, Oktoberfest 2014, Twende Macha Concert, Party In The Wild and many more.

 

• You earlier stage name was Deejay Prince. Why did you change?

Apparently there was another DJ named Prince who plays for Ghetto Radio, and because of that I decided to rebrand to Imraan Feischer.

 

• What music genres do you play?

I play Hip Hop, Locals, RnB, Kwaito, West African music and EDM.

 

• What track do you always play to rescue a dancefloor?

Well it depends cause I believe it depends with the crowd. If it’s a mature crowd I go for some major throwbacks especially old school hip hop, but for the past few months I noticed that the track most people like these days is Ojuelegba by Wizkid.

 

• What track got you out of bed this morning?

I woke up with some 254 music today called Twende Nyumbani by Ndegz and Madtraxx,you guys should download this new jam!! I love supporting my people and my Country.

 

• The best track by your favourite new artist?

My best track right now is “Bring It On” by P Square and Dave Scott.

 

• What deejays are new and do you see blowing up in 2016?\

Well other than me, I believe these names would bring a big difference in this industry
