UP Music: Nimechoka by Marsha Lilly
She flows smoothly in Swahili for this new track dubbed ‘Nimechoka’- Swahili for I am tired. Based in the USA, Kenyan-born Marsha Lilly explores the poetic side of her writing, turning her heart-written poems into soundtracks, “I was born in Nairobi, Kenya. I like to call my music poetry because most of the songs I have written are straight from my poems. My new music video that just came out ‘Nimechoka’ is directed and produced by Monakey Pictures.”
With charisma and a commanding presence, Marsha is clearly a free-spirited person.
“Music has always been in my life ever since I was a kid, singing in front of the TV, during breaks at school and church choir,” she reckons. She goes on to add, “Most people will tell you they would sing in the showers. I also joined drama club and music fest. Having that dream that one day you can share your gift and having to live it is a blessing.”
A model too, she was nominated in this year’s DEAR Awards which seek to recognize Kenyans doing explosive things abroad, as the female model of the year.
What’s on the horizon, UP asks? “Currently I’m working on a new music video produced by Maich Blaq in Kenya. I want to introduce myself to the market with fresh new sound.”
