Viral Wednesday: Spectre Premiere ‘Gatecrasher’, Governor Kabogo’s Faux Pas and POTUS’ Best MJ Impersonation!
Spectre may be set to premiere in Kenya come Friday November 6th, but already it is causing ripples worldwide. Spectre, the latest James Bond movie, has smashed box office records in the UK, taking £6.3m on its Tuesday, this week.
An Oxford graduate and part-time DJ, James Ware made a media splash with a video claiming he had tricked his way onto the red carpet for the lavish UK premiere. It later turned out to be a hoax, and Ware actually did buy the tickets through official channels. He did get his 15 minutes of fame though!
Uganda’s songbird Juliana Kanyomozi brings her latest hit, Nakupenda, to Coke Studio Africa for a mash-up with Flavour from Nigeria. Producer Masterkraft adds the much loved Coke Studio Africa flavour to their mash-up, giving it that distinct sound that we have all come to love. The duo seem to be leading in terms of mash-up video hits and votes to include their collaborations in the Coke Studio compilation album. They recently broke the record for having the most votes in two separate mash-ups for two consecutive weeks.
Is Governor William Kabogo in hot soup? Kabogo is accused of uttering words that amount to hate speech, ethnic contempt and/or incitement to violence at a function in Thika Stadium. In this video, he cautions Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama against insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta, and calls Raila ‘stupid’, alluding to stupidity as caused by lack of circumcision. Will there be a follow up investigation into this case or will political sycophants find yet another excuse to defend his alarming statements, despite video evidence?
To end on a musical note, watch this hilarious mash up of Barack Obama singing Michael Jackson’s Thriller hit.
