Viral Wednesday: Tujuane Tena by DOM

This is a love song based on a relationship that has become so complicated over time and the couple just wants to start over.

DOM, her name acronym to what she feels best defines her: Definition of Music, is back with a new video track dubbed, Tujuane Tena (Swahili for let’s know each other again).

Riding on the wave of her 2014 EP On Fleek release, this talented rapper brings out such a commanding voice as a rapper and singer.

Listening and watching the video, one feels drawn into the well dramatized love scenes. Her music, which has a blend of Hip-hop and Afro-Urban fusion sound, is a clear depiction of the beauty of diversity with a blend of three languages (English, Swahili & Taita). Almost like Nicki-meets-Mafikizolo.

With Tujuane Tena, DOM lets us into the intimate flow of the lovely Swahili, a bit of her mother tongue, Taita and a mix of English punches. The First Class Music video is well shot although one feels the music director had so much to play with in terms of setting but chose to limit the scenes.

Different scenery, especially outside garden shots would have made the love drama quite intriguing. The director should have also played around with the camera shot angles and there was need to watch on the lighting on some scenes as they came out darker.

All in all, looking at the artist and from where she has come from, one feels there is a great growth and that she is definitely on the right path.
