So the Rub-a-Dub Bazaar will be going down at the Bus this Saturday and among the events to expect is th Swap.lab. Trying to figure out what that is? Well aside from jamming to the music and getting amazing deals at the market this will probably be the best thing you get to do this weekend.
Just as anything else has a history, clothes-swapping dates back to the late nineties in the United States, where groups of women would to pay a fee to get together and exchange clothing. In the UK, this practice was actually geared towards promoting charity within institutions like the school and the church. We also found out that there is also an online version of fashion swapping.
A fashion swap is actually a version of swap meets where you exchange your valued but no longer used clothes. In the end, you not only de clutter your wardrobe, but you also save in expenses as well as do your bit for the environment.
What you need to do is to identify the clothes, shoes and other items in your wardrobe that you do not need anymore. However, they need to be washed, ironed and in great condition. The next step is to drop the clothes at the Swap.lab where the clothes are collected and you get your swap pass. What comes next is choosing the clothes you would want to mix and match. Your best asset at this point is your creativity. Make sure you bring out all your fashion senses into finding what to wear, channel the late Joan Rivers from Fashion Police if you have to. If the size does not fit you, there are tailors available to make sure it’s a perfect fit.
Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take back any item dropped at the Swap.lab. So make sure you have no second thoughts about the items you are giving away. Whatever is left over at the Swap.lab will end up going to charity, something that should make you proud.
