Coke Studio Africa Season 3, A Celebration of African Music
In a few months’ time, the continent will come alive to biggest music show that unites African stars, Coke Studio is set to air for season three. Kenya’s Elani, JuaCali, Wangechi and Avril have been officially listed and they will be charged with raising Kenya’s music banner even higher continentally at the TV show.
Coke Studio is a non-competitive music show which seeks to bring together, and showcase, the diversity of African musical talent.It also gives upcoming artists the opportunity to work with the best of both local and international music creative and production talent.
“Our objective is to reinvent the way music captures the imagination and heart of our continent,” Coca-Cola Senior Brand Manager, Otome Oyo. This season, in an exclusive given to the media, will feature a unique form of artist collaborations.
Nigeria, Mozambique, Uganda and Tanzania are on the list of countries we can expect artists from in what is being termed as the latest trend in the global music industry.
“Coke Studio Season 3 will not only celebrate our local African grown music talent, but also create unique collaborations that we believe our consumers and our audience want to hear.” Otome Oyo added.
Season 3 comes with a core element message: “A celebration of African Music.” So, brace yourselves for the return of Yemi Alade and Vanessa Mdee. In addition, new faces to the Coke Studio such as Ali Kiba and Dr. Jose Chameleone will be making their debut.
Grammy Award winning musician and producer Zwai Bala, of ground-breaking South African Kwaito group TKZee will be the show’s music director. Brett Lotriet, a renowned International TV director and producer will be working as the Coke Studio Season 3 series producer.
Some of the producers include Kenya’s Jaaz Odongo, Eric Musyoka and Kevin Provoke,Cobhams Asuquo, Masterkraft and Chopstix from Nigeria.
Last season’s USA-based Kenyan Owour Arunga makes a return, Nahreel from Tanzania and Silvastone from the UK will also be on the production.
Coca- Cola has also partnered with Kenya Airways in a unique agreement that will see the airline fly in all the Coke Studio Africa artistes and producers.
Signing the deal, Kenya Airways CEO Mbuvi Ngunze said the partnership will give the artistes an opportunity to experience KQ’s new fleet, terminal lounges and other state of the art facilities.
