Fashionistas Flock the Nairobi Fashion Market
Women strolled into Ngon’g Racecourse grounds in search of fashion, food and fun with their well-dressed friends over the weekend (March 8th and 9th 2014), marking the Spring edition of the Nairobi Fashion Market (NFM).
The event boasted over 50 stalls with accessories, clothes, cosmetics and even hair if you wanted it. Lyntons Beauty gave women discounted prices and beauty advice, while Elegant Hair had good quality pieces for the ladies looking for a new look on their heads. The Sweet Missy stall had some amazing fashion accessories, and gets an UP Magazine thumbs up.
The fashion show was popular with the crowd who whipped out their phones to photograph the designs they liked from the Kenyan designers, who included: Afrostreet Kollections, Sheena C, Kali by Karegi, Zaramu House of Design, Rift Valley Leather, Tailor Made Jeans, Ella by Fiona Konchellah and Christine Beth.
As usual, the Strut It Afrika models were looking fierce and giving us all kinds of fabulous dressed in local fashion designs. The model, Helen Hivita Rogato, looked great on the catwalk.

Tamima, former Str8-up TV host, MC the event wearing a beautiful piece by Afro-Street Kollections encouraged people: “Buy Kenya [to] build Kenya.” It’s unfortunate the live musical performance on Saturday was sub standard, but it did not stop the attendees from socializing and shopping.
UP appreciates good food in this city, and a special shout out has to go to Pots Delight’s Griller for the delicious food, those wedge potatoes and nyam-choms stole the show.
If you’re looking for a great place to find fashion, food and fun (mostly through people watching), go to Nairobi Fashion Market.
