This weekend has more festivals to offer with film and beer and the greatest Halloween party this side of lake Turkana. don’t miss out on any if you can.

The Udada Film festival
The UDADA Film Festival is the first ever film festival in the East African region dedicated entirely to women’s film productions. Through this initiative UDADA Film Festival will provide a platform for established and emerging female talent in this industry to exhibit their work, discuss, exchange and network with each other, the public and other stakeholders. It will foster creative interactions with film lovers, scholars, students, producers and funders. The festival offers a rare film experience to the general public running from the 25th – 29th October, 2:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m. Admission: 200/=, students: 50/=

The Village Market Halloween Party

The Village Market throws the largest Halloween themed party in the region this Saturday. A family affair that had decorations so scary last year people called in the news to report ‘devil worshiping activities’ at the venue that competes for the title of Nairobi’s best mall. They encourage all ghouls, goblins, vampires (probably not the Twilight kind), werewolves and monsters to attend. Virtually the entire mall will be a part of this costume soirre so plan for a night of fiendish delights that ends with prizes such as “The Best Dressed”.

Oktober Fest Mamba Village

October isn’t only known for its Halloween shenanigans, it’s also known for the annual beer fest that originated in Germany. One thing Nairobians are known for around the world is our love for good beer. Part of the UP team will be kicking back and enjoying the best beers our faire city has to offer at Oktoberfest held at the mamba village.

Here’s a sample of what to expect

• Official Keg tapping to kick start the festival
• Contemporary Kenyan art and crafts
• Miss Oktoberfest i.e.the position is selected by a close committee of judges from a panel of local applicants.the contestants are all ladies dressed as men.
