Beat Ya Street
You can move better than anyone in your estate and you know it too, so here’s your chance to show Kenya just how good you are by auditioning for the Beat Ya Street dance competition. Orange and its partners, Google and Alcatel Onetouch, are launching a three month street music campaign that will culminate in a live, finale show on NTV in September.
Each crew must consist of four to six members and if they emerge the winners they will walk away with KES 5 million. The competition doesn’t end there, the winners will also travel to South Africa next year for the Red Bull Beat Battle to challenge other top crews from across the continent.
Regional selections are as follows: Nairobi (July 17th), Mombasa (July 31st), Kisumu (August 14th), Thika (August 28th). Eight shortlisted teams will participate in the knock out stage, then the judges will select the regional team and a wildcard team who will appear in the finale on September 28th. All the regional events will be broadcast on NTV on Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
Though the Nairobi call for entries is now closed, the dates for the other three towns will be announced in the media. All you need to do after reading this is upload a 60 second video clip onto www.obys.co.ke where your friends and family will use the portal to vote for you as many times as they wish. You ready to pop, drop and lock it? Upload your video and tell your neighborhood to hold you down by voting.
On July 17th, there will be an Orange Beat Ya Street Live Event at the Carnivore from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.
