Gloria Muliro Leading At Groove Awards 2013: Nominations Unveiled

Gospel singer Gloria Muliro is leading at the 8th edition of Groove Awards nominations with five endorsements in different categories. Her “Sitolia” collaboration partner Willy Paul comes second with three. Also featuring on the nominee list unveiled on the Tuesday night of May 6th 2013 at the National Museums of Kenya is Mercy Wairegi with three nominations. Jimmy Gait, Eunice Njeri, Kriss Eh Baba and Eko Dydda (2012 Male Artist of the Year) joining the top contenders with two nominations each.

The Groove Awards event is organized by Safaricom and Mo Sound Entertainment and this year’s edition features 28 categories. Perhaps as a testimony to just how fast gospel music is picking up as a mainstream genre, the awards also span across the East African Community member-states. The categories also include top gospel DJs, Producers, TV and radio shows among others. This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Madaraka Day (June 1st) with voting open till the eve of the awards. The event will be capped by a unique five town gospel music extravaganza by award winners.
