Muthoni DQ on the Up and Up with new single and TV appearance

This week marks a first, on many levels, for Muthoni the Drummer Queen. She joins the Tusker Project Fame 6 (#TPF6) faculty, as a guest Music Director, and releases her fourth single, GET UP, from the album DMQ, on Friday (08.11.13). Having once been a contestant on the very first edition of Tusker Project Fame, back in 2006/7, she is excited to spend time with these young, fresh and talented artists from across East Africa. Muthoni will certainly bond with them by sharing her journey, and hopefully teaching them a thing or two about the business. This TV appearance coincides with the release of the single, GET UP, which will resonate with the contestants. The newbies certainly have a difficult journey ahead of them, in trying to establish a name for themselves. Other individuals working toward their dream will surely relate to the single, which speaks on the struggle, but reminds listeners that you TOO can succeed.

GET UP is about staying focused and seeing beyond the bumps. Overcoming the struggles with self and the battles that we have which call for acceptance, inner strength and commitment to your path. It is often easy to stay stuck in the past, focusing on what could have been but that doesn’t honor who you are now. Don’t negotiate with the circumstances, the hate, or the negativity, be bigger than that. You will constantly be at odds with yourself but keep it moving, follow your instinct and you will move beyond it.
