Pre-event Artist Profile: FemalectroniKE

 

 

FemalectronicKE is an ensemble of three female DJ’s that will come together to perform at the Art at the Bus event happening this weekend from the 1st-3rd of April.

 

The trio that will be performing together for the first time on only day one of the event, comprises DJ Cindy, DJ Miss Ray and Deejay Steel.

 

DJ Cindy who also doubles up as a graphic designer, points to R&B songstress Mariah Carey as her main source of inspiration. She doesn’t let herself be boxed in though: she plays various genres of music that include: house, dance, soul, kwaito, indie music and lounge tunes. She has previously DJ’d at venues like 88 Lounge at the Villa Rosa Kempinski, Lunar Park at the Railways Club and Juniper Social among many other venues. She also has a themed night called “Crave Thursdays” at the Florida Club where she plays the best of house, afro beats and dance. However, “Crave Thursdays” is currently on a break.

 

DJ Miss Ray also spins alongside DJ Cindy on Thursday’s at the Florida Club. Like her counterpart, she isn’t confined to a specific genre of music but likes to explore numerous music genres. She was previously the resident DJ at Blue Marlin in Beijing and during her career she has played gigs in Coventry, Stockholm and Cape Town.

 

Deejay Steel is relatively new to the scene but she should serve up some pleasant music as well.
