Spotlight on DJ Mikhail Kuzi
The self-proclaimed, “electronic dance music aficionado”, Mikhail Kuzi is certainly the ‘people’s DJ’ with a staggeringly large following. His love for DJing sprouted at the tender age of 13 when he used to stay up until 2:00 a.m. absorbing the influences of the global electronic music scene. Encouraged by Nairobi’s DJ Ohms, he began spinning the decks himself.
Kuzi began honing his skills at sweet 16 parties all over Nairobi where he played the pop, rock and R & B that was in vogue at the time. However, after witnessing the success of ‘Ministry of Sound’ in Diani Beach New Year’s party, he resolved to drive the crowds wild with the sonic electronic sounds. Together with Keiron Patrick (../../DJ%20K.jpg), Kuzi started wildly successful ‘6:AM’. Ever since, crowds have been exposed to house and progressive sounds that is turning Kenya into a global premiere party destination.
Kuzi is part of a movement in the Kenyan dance scene that is pushing the envelope by fuelling the explosion of festivals such as the ‘Rift Valley Festival’ and ‘Earth Dance’.
