Tech Start-ups to Watch in 2014-SokoText

What: SokoText is a smart solution with a big idea: To make food affordable for everyone.
They use an SMS service that aggregates orders from all registered suppliers and turns them into one big order for each product. Fresh produce is then sourced from local markets with the main aim of single sourcing this produce directly from farmers and getting preferred prices on both the goods and transport because of large volumes.

Unique Selling Point: SokoText works with low-income earners managing to cater to this demographic group, which has not been done before.

Who: SokoText is comprised of 5 members. Suraj Gudka (../../CEO.jpg), Verena Liedgens and Jonah Brotman (cofounders), Sofia Zab (marketing strategy and technology products), and Carolina Medina (food security expert).

Scalability: With a cost effective service that is targeting the bottom of the pyramid market the opportunity to scale is huge.

Revenue: SokoText takes a percentage of the purchases.
