UP asked Sarah a few questions about herself, her instagramming what being featured means for her.
Who is the Afrohemien Nomad, tell us about yourself
I’m a wanderer, a free spirit. I live for the simple things in life. I look for adventure at any cost and have a plan to see as much of the world as I can in my life time.

I started photography about 2 years ago and basically taught myself. I was living in Mombasa at the time, and I loved the culture and the colors I would come across and I wanted to document that. It later became my refuge, like when I would shoot I would go into a trance. That’s how much it moves me.
What do use to take your pictures? Camera? Phone? Both?
I use both, my camera and my phone.
What do you do when you are not taking pictures, what’s your day job?
I work in hospitality
Your pictures seem to be a narrative of Nairobi. What type of story are you trying to tell?
Nairobi, is this conundrum plagued by progress and retrogression simultaneously and that adds to its allure. I tell mostly people stories, and how these people relate to the city. I also appreciate how diverse of a landscape it is, and try to showcase that as often as I can.

What do you like most about the city of Nairobi?
It’s history, and mostly the fond memories I have growing up as a child here
How does it feel to be featured on Instagram’s blog? Will it change how you take pictures?
It is a great honor, it’s every serious instagrammer’s dream! No it will not change how I take pictures, I didn’t do anything special to get featured and will not do anything special now that I have been featured. I am just passionate about photography and that will never change.
