The Alternative Wishlist
This is a new literary series aimed at taking literary discourse to unusual public spaces such as amusement parks, forests, markets, and shopping centers. Each session will be based on a specific theme.
Since the theme for this session is “Water”, participants will read selected texts by Alice Munro (Closely Held), Heinrich Heine (The Loreley), Günter Eich (Pond in December and Oder, My River), Juli Zeh (Decompression). After the unique literary experience on boats, participants will converge for a picnic at the park.
Date: March 12th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is the first of a three part series of poetry slams culminating in a Grand Finale at the end of the year. There will be an individual as well as teams slam with the slam winners automatically securing a slot into the Grand Slam. Come enjoy an afternoon of great poetry performances on the backdrop of live music and a fusion of art forms.

In conjunction with the International Women’s Day 2016, Nairobi Art Centre is celebrating ladies with a spectacular art event. Come and learn to paint in a conducive, supportive environment that is fun, friendly and a great place to meet and socialize with other women. No experience necessary, however experienced artists welcome! Everyone paints at their own level. Come and create a masterpiece to take home.

An original play by Silvia Cassini, “A Man Like You” is a captivating play set in Nairobi and Somalia. It centres on two very idealistic headstrong men; Patrick North, British diplomat and hostage and his Somali kidnapper Abdi, who defend their world-views in this intense expose’ on extremism, politics and religion.

The Nairobi Visual Arts Exhibition will host Manjano. The exhibition will exhibit an amalgam of art ranging from paintings, sculptures to mixed media works.

Music and Art Exhibition by Richard Onyango and Francis Njoroge
Richard Onyango, a world renown artist from Malindi, will be exhibiting his artworks at Nairobi Gallery. He has held several exhibitions in several countries abroad. Also, Francis Njoroge will be launching his band Out Of The Box. He was a member of the original African Heritage Band and toured with Alan Donovan and the band throughout Europe. Come and enjoy music, art and great coffee.
