The Start-up Mixer Q & A with Muthoni MDQ

Versatile singer, composer and showbiz entrepreneur, Muthoni MDQ is a visionary who star isn’t fading any time soon. In the run up to the Start-up mixer tomorrow (March 28) where she is set to have a presentation, we probe into what makes Muthoni MDQ tick.

1. When you were naming your business, what other names did you consider?

None. The concept was the name and the name was the concept.

2. What companies (in a field outside of your own) do you admire?

Virgin group and Eat Out Kenya.

3. If you could have dinner with any five people (dead or alive) who would you pick and why?

i) Don Jazzy- so that we can make music together;

ii) Russell Simmons- so I can pick his mind on business;

iii) Kanye West- to see if B&W can join DONDA as an executive partner;

iv) Richard Branson- so that I can pitch him; and

v) Deepak Chopra - so we can talk spirituality.

4. Which two books would you recommend to our readers?

Losing My Virginity: the Autobiography by Richard Branson and The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

5. Business books and blogs are awash with habits of successful and effective leaders. What habits/ values have you incorporated into your life/ business that contribute to your effectiveness?
