Throwback Candy

Big G

Big G would be divided not less than four times to share with friends. This was an unspoken rule. Sometimes you would get such a small piece that it would fizzle out into oblivion and there was a high likelihood that you would swallow it. There were even different variations of the gum over the years namely Menthol, Cola and Strawberry, however the red original flavour still reigns supreme, even till today.

Goody Goody

goody goody

The delicious toffee goodness made the 90’s great. Nothing could match passing by the shops on your way home from school and grabbing that caramel goodness wrapped within a red plastic prison. You had to set goody goody free- and keep it warm and safe inside your mouth.

Toffee

Speaking of toffee, remember the Jojo’s Toffee? It would get stuck between your teeth and would be such a pain in the neck to get out. The stickiness was part of the sweets charm, though, and we couldn’t get enough of the treat!

Jaw Breakers

Ed, Edd and Eddy popularized the jawbreaker, making it one of the most sought after confectioneries in the 90’s. You would stuff it in your mouth and then take it back out- before licking it down to a manageable size. Good times.

Coo

Coo was a staple in every home and was almost like a basic necessity. Always there for you even in the leanest of times, Coo would stay by your side . It only cost 50 cents!

Pez

There were times when having forty shillings to spend made you loaded. The market was good and it was a time of excess, the perfect time for Pez. The tiny candies that came in a plastic futuristic dispenser. If you showed up to class with Pez- you were on a league of your own.

Ice

ice

Who can forget these flavoured ice lollies that came in a plastic bag? Kids of the 80s & 90s would tear of the top bit with their teeth and suck all the cold delicious ice out. There was the option of taking big bites - when time was of the essence. Ice would be best enjoyed slowly, on a hot February day, as you hang out with friends before a riveting game of kati.
