Top Ten Things Men Must Carry To a Festival
My partner in crime Nyambura Ngugi did a run up of what ladies ought to carry to a festival. Well, one of our readers commented and asked what about the men, and we went all out to make sure we were gender sensitive!
So, with many festivals banning these: man-bags, selfie sticks, drugs, glass, umbrellas, and fireworks, what should our men carry?
Your lady!
Festivals are cool since they attract a large number of single ladies if you are out for just a festival fling. Well, tagging along your lady means you have her through-out the festival unlike a festival fling who may decide to disappear with the next Tom, Dick or Harry.
Your African Print accessory
This is Nairobi and nothing screams fashion sense like a local fashion wear, be it African print shoes, shambala bracelets or even t-shirt.
Shorts are a must, and so are sweatshirts and sunglasses.
Hats
Woven trilbies and fedoras are summer festival mainstays, but not all men have the head shape or confidence to pull one off. If this applies to you, on trend bucket hats and snap backs are casual, easy to wear alternatives that complement the core pieces of our look perfectly.
Phone battery
Your phone will never be charged enough for the all the Whats-app chats, Instagram pics, real pics, videos and “muploads” you want to take. Is your favorite band about to take the stage? Congratulations, your battery just died. An extra phone battery will come handy.
Watch
With your smartphone dead and without a phone to tell the time, a watch is invaluable. Again, this needn’t be the gold-studded Cartier style you’ve been eyeing up for the past six months, but rather something that functions and still has fine form.
Camping bags

Food
I know what you thinking, there are always food vendors at the festivals. Remember when your mum or dad told you to take lots of food before your first festival? And you rebelled and didn’t take any because “all you need is alcohol”, and then you suffered for five days getting ripped-off? Thank us later, I guess.
Alcohol
Yes, the price of booze at festivals is a rip off. We know that already. Get over it.
Loo Roll
Guys, you know how we roll, right? A tissue pack on you in your pocket and you’ll be ready for anything!
Cash
Go on…embrace the festival spirit. Forget where you’ve pitched your tent, buy a drink for a complete stranger and be serious about having fun. It’s what festivals are all about.
