UP Film Of The Week - Now That You’re Here

‘Now That You’re Here’ was entered in ‘Filmapalooza’ for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival.

 

The 48 Hour Film Project is a crazy and sleepless weekend for established and up and coming filmmakers, where you and a team make a movie - write, shoot, and edit - in just 48 hours.

 

 

On Friday night, teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, a prop and a line to include in their films. All of them must include these three things. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop off event, the film is turned in - and teams celebrate. The film is then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends and families.

 

‘Now That You’re Here’ picked the genre ‘film de femme’ for their movie and the execution of it was quite magnificent.

The story told in a short 6 minute movie was captivating and exhilarating.

 

 

The film feature a Kenyan TV and film favourites Sarah Hassan and Kevin ‘K1’ Maina.

Their characters brought the story to life and the movie ‘Now That You’re Here’ is a must watch.
