Driving or jiving through Nairobi it seems as if the number of flat potential graffiting surfaces has increased exponentially with the new construction of roads and buildings. I contained myself and have not (yet) taken to the streets with a paint can. But others have.

The Samaritans, created by a Kenya-based production company, is a comedy about the perils – and pleasures – of the “NGO world”. It highlights some of the absurdities of the international aid sector and satirically chronicles the work of an NGO that, in the words of its creator, “does nothing.” Aren’t you curious about how the NGO really world looks, sounds and feels like?

Live music in Kenya is undergoing a spectacular evolution. International programs such as the One Beat Program and schools in Kenya like Penya Africa’s Sauti Academy are slowly working their magic and the result is an industry suffused with professional, worldly and unbelievably talented musicians. To take but one example here’s some Kato Change for you performing his song at The Roulette Theater in New York last year with One Beat fellows.
