All Saints Cathedral
Once a month, the guys at Poetry Spot organise an event for poets and lovers of poetry. This month’s gig takes place on the 10th of July and features pieces on the city that is Nairobi.
Zero charges, gates open at 6pm.

This month’s featured artist, Suzan Kerunen is a Ugandan world music singer who writes and performs African Contemporary music in the local Ugandan language of Alur (her mother tongue) as well as in English, Swahili and other languages. She started her career as a young girl with her two sisters in an all girl group Soul of Africa and later went on to launch her solo career with her debut Album NIMEFIKA a Kiswahili term meaning “I have arrived”
She is a double nominee for the Best East African and African Artist 2008/09 Kora All Africa Music Awards 2008-2009. She has taken her music to the UK, Trinidad and Tobago and Benin.
Charges, 500 advance and 800 at the door.
Saturday, 11th July
Railways Museum
This is officially the party of the year!
“UP Live IV: Off The Rails” is a celebration of UP Magazine’s 4th birthday/anniversary and will feature a combination of live acts and DJ sets will feature two international artists: Sekou Kouyate from Guinea, and DJ Kali from Germany. These two high profile acts will be accentuated with performances by fast rising girl band KIU , Iddi Aziz and his multi-talented family and Maia Lekow. DJs Foozak, Greg Tendwa, Sir Loin, Jinku and Solvation will also play on the night. Capping off the late night set will be the nine-piece orchestra that is the Kaya Collective; in all, 10 hours of live entertainment is planned.
Takes place at the Railway Museum. It kicks off at 6.00 pm and tickets are Ksh 2,500 advance and Ksh 3000 at the gate.
Sunday 12th July
Alliance Franchaise
Mufasa is throwing a spokenword party at the Alliance Franchaise. He will fuse music, contemporary dance, beatboxing and percussion into his performance.The ‘Blame My Roots’ show will also see him introduce the crowd to his new pieces, including: Blame My Roots, 14 again, Mother in Mama Africa, Siko cell (Inspired by a sickle cell warrior).
