What You Might Have Missed While You Were Getting on with Your Life

As usual social media, you tube and the media were filled with stories that may be too hard to believe. There was the video titled “Sonko, Paul Kobia, Kabogo, Jaguar and Others threatening Raila” allegedly threatening to kill the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga posted by controversial blogger Robert Alai. Of course it was rubbished by Sonko and Jaguar but it’s kind of hard to forget one of them asking everyone to put their guns on the table before they prayed. Another video that has taken the Kenyan You-Tube scene by storm is the Pombe Bhangi music video that samples Raila Odinga’s speech that was allegedly directed at the UhuRuto team before last years elections. Its got tens of hundreds of people around Nairobi praying that NACADA boss John Mututho doesn’t check You Tube quite often. The video doesn’t compare at all to Electrique DJs video Duog Dala featuring Nina Ogot and Jaaz that completely blew us away and they’ll be performing at the Rift Valley Festival.

Away from You Tube PR, Guru Gina Din caused quite a furore on the Kenyan twittersphere when the Nation fm twitter handle tweeted an incomplete quote from her. Here’s their tweet

The entire quote should have actually read.

I am saddened when I hear women ‘choose’ to spend more time with their kids rather than stay on high-powered career tracks… Women should never have to make that choice in the first place.”

We do know that it’s sometimes quite a struggle to keep our tweets under 140 characters but Nation FM shouldn’t shorten quotes when they obviously will be taken out of context.

And lastly, from over at Kilimo House we get quote from our Cabinet Secretary for agriculture Felix Koskei who was reported in the Daily Nation telling journalists “We have enough food stored in the silos of each of these counties. The only challenge we are facing is that the residents there are too poor to afford to buy these foods.” We’re just going to let you draw your conclusions on that.

Anything else that you feel we missed. Add it to the comments section and make sure you email us anything from this week that you feel should end up in next weeks round up.
