What your jeans say about you (For Men)

Are they baggy, saggy and drooped over Timberlands? Are they hipster-skinny? Even the color (from down-town New York black to a Miami-cool whitewash) reveals something about a man’s attitude and sense of self.

  1. Washed out hippie: Light wash jeans scream “lost 90s boy band” - or, if high-waisted, “I’m a dad and I dress like one.” Just ask President Obama.
  2. The Awkward-New-to-Self-Dressing Adult Male: This dude went straight from mom buying his clothes to girlfriend buying his clothes. To this guy jeans are jeans and usually ends up with a fit that is not too tight in the leg but not too loos as a ‘Dad’.
  3. The out of the loop Cuffer: Cuffs are generally associated with pleated pants and are a faux pas especially for shorter guys, as they visually shorten the legs. Taller men can work a cuff, but it usually looks sleeker not to.
  4. The (over) Dresser: Just because jeans are dark doesn’t mean they are “fancy.” Specifically, that doesn’t mean you can wear them with shiny black dress shoes.
  5. Mid-rise expert: This guy knows what works the balance between sagging and high waist Steve Urkel. As GQ’s Glenn O’Brien once wrote, “Perhaps the Creator (or whoever plays him on television) put that navel there for a scientific reason, and that reason is as precise and ineffable as pi.” Your waistband doesn’t need to go all the way up to your belly button, but it probably shouldn’t be seven inches below in.
