The open exhibition features the works of Kenyan and American artists Jacob Wachira and Eugene Cooke. Eugene’s art is primarily figurative work. He believes that beautiful images encourage personal growth, self esteem and higher consciousness. While Jacob feels his paintings are the only voice he has, although sometimes he hides behind them because people who live in Mathare, like he does, are voiceless.

You can never have too many shoes and dresses. Just ask Imelda Marcos. Every Thursday the Memorial park undergoes a metamorphosis into a fabulous outdoor bazaar for unique bags, dresses, shoes and ornaments. Entrance to the park is 20 shillings.

Paragasha is a place where all things musical meet. "The word ‘Paragasha’ means "thrilling, exciting but most importantly that which can only be explained through music," says Anthony Mwangi the musician and brainchild behind the event.
