Ten Cities Screening Series: Favela on Blast

Directed by Diplo and Leandro HBL, Favela On Blast (2008, 75 min) is next in the TEN CITIES Screening Series. Ten Cities is a global, cultural project that spans two continents, ten countries and three disciplines (music, photography and writing). This series screen numerous feature films and documentaries, focusing on different aspects of club and sub-culture around the globe. This documentary tells stories of sex, love, poverty, and pride among Rio’s marginalized people. It’s a film that’s fast, heavy, and violent like the city itself, with insight into the “Funk Carioca” or “Baile Funk” styles of music originating there . Entry is free.
