For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf is written by American playwright, Ntozake Shange, and is a collection of “choreopoems” exploring the challenges that African American women have faced including: rape, abandonment, abortion and other subjects. Each poem emodies a female character only known by colour: “Lady in Yellow”, “Lady in Purple,” e.t.c. DetailsAttack of The Shidas
The Theatre Company of Kenya collaborated with Story Moja to create a live performance of the book, ‘The Attack of the Shidas-AKAS Save Planet Earth’, by Muthoni Muchemi. The play is about children from different Kenyan communities who realize that the only way to save their community, which is being threatened by a disastrous water shortage, is by overcoming their differences. This is a play the whole family can relate to and enjoy. English and Kiswahili will be the languages used in the production. Finje Finje- Simply Dogs (Ends July 20th)
This play is inspired by the fifty years of independence that Kenya will be celebrating in 2013. Simply Dogs is the first of the creative projects within the FinjeFinje platform showcasing a contemporary dance piece, comprising five dancers from Kenya and DRC. Participating alongside producer and choreographer, Kebaya Moturi, and dancers: Adam Chienjo, Sarah Kwalah, Jack Bryton and Doudou Saidi who is Congolese.
