Design Is… With Nathan Masyuko

Nathan Masyuko wears two hats in the design industry: he is the director of NexGen Ltd and also holds the directorial position at AfterSix Labs. These two companies focus on app development, system development and game development.

Design is… “Design is something that provides a solution to problems that are facing Nairobi. Whether it’s designing of new roads that ease traffic or designing better systems that make people work better, and more efficiently. I think design is interesting because you find simple things like the roads being built differently and the buildings also looking different… For example, apartments before used to be built for big families, now people are starting to build 2 bedroomed and 1 bedroom apartments because there’s a new generation of people who need one bedroomed, two bedroomed housing. So the fact that someone thought of designing something that meets the new need is changing in Nairobi and design is ever changing in the city and it is exciting to see how it is growing.”
