Mwangi Kirubi (Wildlife & Wedding Photography)

What started off as a hobby: shooting weddings and stage performances for friends ended up becoming Mwangi’s livelihood. Popularly known as Mwarv, he got into photography in 2006. By 2009, he was snapping away many weddings and by sheer accident in 2009; after being pushed by a pastor at Karura Chapel, he took photography head on. He has since covered hundreds of weddings and stage performances, professionally. Four years later, the craft brings him joy and satisfaction, but his main love lies in wildlife and landscape photography. Many wonder, what’s the secret to that perfect shot? Mwarv says, “I believe the best photography technique is: If it is a paid for job, shoot what the client wants and add on what you believe will make the client happier. When shooting for yourself - go wild! Forget the rules and shoot without shackles.” He will be teaming up with the OneTouchLive photographers [on a mission] to photograph the best that Africa has to offer, for a showcase in Rio during the 2014 World Cup. The 3-month photographic road trip from Nairobi to Rio is set to commence in May 2014.
