Nairobi Fashion and Allure at KikoRomeo 007 Fashion Show

A big white tent, tasteful welcome cocktails and bitings, stylish looking people, pumping beats from the DJ and a catwalk. Those were the scenes at Yaya Centre on Wednesday May 29th at the KikoRomeo 007 fashion show, almost feeling like being in Milan or Paris. And who knows, this could even have been a practice for the future since KikoRomeo international latest debut was in Vogue Italia. This year’s fashion show: Shaken not stirred was a VIP event that was well organized and had a professional and strict welcome at the door. If you did not have any proof that you were supposed to be there you couldn’t get in, even if you are the best at persuading people.

The opening with cocktails from Jameson and different sorts of bitings was a great opportunity to meet and greet people from the industry and to find out what is going on in the Nairobi fashion scene. DJ Zalalem was spinning some amazing beats that accompanied the conceptual videos images on the big screens which were placed all over. Everybody did their best to dress to impress, it was a cool mix of super hip and modern, traditional kitenge, glamorous and some custom made. All spiced up with a hint of leather, feathers and studs here and there, so you can image that it was a mix of stylish and fashionable people attending this event.

The show took off at about 8:00 p.m till 9:30 p.m and was even slightly interrupted by a brief power cut. But when it started the crowd was completely ready for every inch of fabric that Ann McCreath had in store for us. Tall, dark, pretty and handsome models strutted that catwalk in cocktail dresses, denim sport jackets, capri pants and crop tops. Bright colors mixed with earth colored and plum palette fabrics to complement the graphic print men shirts. The men’s pantaloons were sharply cut and the women’s Capri pants with flower print fitted the Amazon long legs of the models really well. The collection brought some nice elements and everything was arranged well. There could have been a bit more variety, but it is the brands trademark looks and concept that worked perfectly for them. Kudos to KikoRomeo!
