Ally Salehe Kiba, more popularly known by his stage name Ali Kiba, is a Bongo flava artiste from Tanzania. He is a singer, songwriter and recording artist. Ali Kiba is one of Africa’s biggest stars and is a household name in the continent- steadily becoming recognised internationally. His debut album ‘Cinderella’ was one of the biggest selling records in East Africa.
He has a music label called Rockstar4000 and is also an activist and ambassador of Wildaid.
He is best known for his hit songs Mwana, Chekecha Cheketua and Cinderella.
The song ‘Lupela’ is a tale of a man in love; he confesses his love for a girl named Lupela with this catchy and extremely danceable tune.
The video is a bit of a hit and miss in my opinion. I’m not quite sure what to make of it. I assume that the dancers dressing up as elephants is symbolic, seeing as this is a track that has been released through his global ambassadorship and partnership with WildAid.
The song is undeniably very danceable. He does over-use auto tune a little bit; which is quite unnecessary because Ali Kiba has a fantastic voice. All of this extra fluff was really not necessary.
