Remember Sema? The group that comprised Kevin Waweru, Pam Waithaka and Sanaipei Tande burst into the limelight in 2004 after winning the Kenyan version of the Coca Cola Popstars competition.

The group then signed to Homeboyz and released an album called Mwewe on the label. Mwewe spawned some tracks which were quite successful like ‘Sakalakata’ and ‘Leta Wimbo’ that received a fair amount of airplay.

Unfortunately, Mwewe was to be Sema’s first and last album. In 2005, the group disbanded citing internal differences. Following the split, Pam went on to launch her music career as a solo artist releasing tracks like Dhahabu, Usimpe Roho and Nimechoka while Kevin went into acting.

On the other hand, Sanaipei went on to become a presenter on Capital FM co-hosting “Hits Not Homework” with Eve D’Souza. She later left the station and joined KISS FM and afterwards she joined Nation FM. Sadly, she was relieved of her position at Nation FM last year under controversial circumstances. Radio aside, following the demise of Sema, Sanaipei also launched a successful career as a solo artist and to date she has remained the most active in the music industry of the original three members.

Anyway, they may have broken up but Sema released some decent songs back in the day. Re-live the good old days by checking out the songs below.
