Buying a book is an investment. You first have to find an engaging book, which is a task in itself, and then find time out of your busy work schedule to read that 650-page hard cover novel front to back. Hopefully, you’ll have picked a good book and not realised the passing of time until you’re done. UP Magazine brings to you a list of the top five bookshops in Nairobi.
1. The Bookstop
Located on the third floor of Yaya Centre on Arwings Kodhek road, Hurlingham, this bookstore offers a wide range of genres from gardening to romantic novels. They also sell second hand books at cheaper prices for those who want to spare some cash.
2. Chania Bookshop
This bookshop is on Moi Avenue. Its location, which is right in the CBD, makes it easier for book readers who work in town to stop by after work.
3. Text Book Centre Sarit Centre
Although Text book centre has many branches; the one in Sarit centre is probably the biggest so you’d be guaranteed a large number of options to chose from.
4. The Souk
Mostly known for its collection of art and accessories, the Souk, based in Karen is also home to a bookshop café where you can enjoy your reading along with a hot cup of coffee.
