- Kenchic
One of first fast food franchises to come up in Nairobi, Kenchic has long been synonymous with kuku quarter na chips. Throughout the years they’ve managed to put out the most consistently terrific rotisserie chicken in town.
UP Tip: Don’t got to the one in Hurlingham, their food is horrible, no matter what time of day it is
Locations: Throw a stone, you’re bound to hit a Kenchic establishment.
- Mc Frys
Not as widespread as Kenchic but still a crowd favourite, Mc Frys offers up good halal chicken and chips and reasonable prices. Their chicken is quite delicious and they even let you decide which you’d prefer a breast or a thigh (yes those are priced differently)
UP Tip: The kachumbari and salad are usually free, so load up and enjoy!

- Red Robin
Known for their generous chips portions, Red Robin hold a special place in many Nairobians hearts and their wallets. Their chicken has long been a late-night mainstay for the downtown night owl.

- Sonford
Famously known for being open for 24 hours, Sonford will cater to you when all other fast food places that you know of are closed. It’s basically a landmark in the CBD, if you know your way from Sonford you know how to get home, inebriated or otherwise.
UP Tip: Sonford food is best enjoyed there and then, don’t try and take away.

- Tennessee/Nevada/Altona
These three joints are great, right next to each other and basically interchangeable. If you’ve eaten at one, you’ve eaten at the other. Shout out to their ‘kuku porno’ though, that’s some good stuff right there.

- Chicken Inn
Part of the Innscor franchise (Pizza, Bakers and Creamy Inn), Chicken Inn hold it down as the go to place for quick, affordable and delicious chicken and chips. Offering up combos for as low as 200 shillings, it has become a quick favourite amongst many Nairobians.
UP Tip: The drive through on Ngong Road has constant special offers available, you get more bang for your buck!

- KFC
KFC is the most recent addition to the Nairobi food scene, being in Kenya since 2013. The famous Colonel Sanders fried chicken, made with the secret 11 spice recipe, is a great option for you and your friends and family.
Locations: Kimathi Street CBD, Westlands, Junction Mall, Westgate Mall, Galleria Mall, Mombasa Road.
- Galitos
Galitos offers up flame grilled chicken with the spice variation of Hot, Mild and Lemon and Herb. Frequented mostly by members of Nairobi’s middle class, the franchise boasts of great combo meals.
UP Tip: If you want to try and recreate the Galitos taste at home they have sauces for sale, and they’re worth every penny.

- Greenview
Famously known for its scrumptious fish fingers and generous food portions, Greenview restaurant also offers up delicious chicken dishes. Be it fried, grilled or bread crumbed - their chicken dishes are up there with the best of the best. It doesn’t hurt that they dish out chips like they’re going out of style.
Top tip: Ask for tartar sauce and extra lemon slices if you order the bread crumbed chicken.

- Chicken House
The first of the originally Kenyan fast food places in the CBD to introduce the combo which includes a piece of chicken, chips and a soda for under 250 shillings, Chicken House is a fast food force to be reckoned with. It started as just one establishment and has grown to multiple sites now but still only in the CBD.
Top Tip: Their daily specials are the best value for money out there, take advantage of them.
